OCTOBER 2022: JORDAN GUERNSEY

What is your name or nickname?

Jordan, Jordie, ladycakes, boo thang, mom/bruh

What are your favorite hobbies, talents, skills outside of CrossFit?

Live music, getting outside, old school video games, audio books

How did you find/get to CrossFit Eclipse?

I had taken a couple months’ break and decided to get back into CF, tried a couple gyms including Eclipse which is closest to home, and loved it there.

What motto or phrase do you live by?

Phrase to live by: “That which is like, unto itself is drawn.” Basically, you attract who and what resonates with you, so be authentic and the things and people meant for you will find you. 🖤

What is your favorite music to listen to while WODing?

Fast paced rock (big Shinedown fan), or hip-hop/rap I can dance to!

What is your favorite cheat Food(s)?

Chic Fil A and donuts

What is one thing you have done at CFE that you never thought you would do?

A 245lb back squat, yeah! All my percentages went up for barbell work though, whoops! 😂

What motivates you through your CrossFit journey?

The fact that I can do so many things I never imagined. I started my fitness journey just before I turned 30 to lose a little weight, and I took no “before” pics because I wasn’t sure it would stick and didn’t want to be embarrassed. Everything now is all just one big giant “bonus round” to me and CF/weightlifting feels like a playground/game and I can actually (kinda) hang. Just moving to move, now.

What results have you seen so far in coming to CFE?

Weightlifting has improved dramatically, which is one of my favorite parts of CF. My weaknesses have improved slowly as well, and I’ve gained a lot of strength which makes me happy. Thanks Coaches!

Do you have any special or successful CrossFit Eclipse memories/moments?

KO in the OK with Team Flex Appeal was really fun this year! I also love being a part of Barbell Club.

What sort of life changes have you experienced because of CrossFit that you didn’t expect?

I can do hard things. Like, really hard things. I’m not a lifelong athlete/didn’t grow up great at sports, and now I’m one people call strong. So literally anybody can become what they once couldn’t imagine.

What advice would you give to a newbie or someone just joining CrossFit Eclipse?

Pick a spot in the middle of the room or up front, take up space, talk to the coaches and ask them how to take the next step to improve something you care about or ask them how to work towards a goal, because they’ll be happy to help you knowing it’s what you’re really excited about.

Current training Goals/PRs?

All lifts in triple digits! Just need a few more lbs on my strict press! Also, stick the landing on a 30 inch box jump, I’m super close.

If you could create a WOD and name it for yourself, what would it be?

“Jordan”

For Time:

50 Deadlifts (115/85)

40 Curtsy Lunges w/KB or DB

30 Box Jumps (30/24)

20 Power Cleans (115/85)

10 Turkish Get-Ups (Challenging weight, 5 each side)

Cowboys or Sooners?

I just hope both teams have fun. Go sportsball!
