When did you first start CrossFitting?

I first started crossfit in Dec 2010.

Tell us about your sports & fitness background.

I played Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Soccer growing up and through high school. I continued to be very active in the gym and intramural sports including football, basketball, soccer, and volleyball through college as well.

How did you first get into CrossFit? How did it go?

Over the years previous I had let myself get out of shape and overweight and had reached a point that I knew I had to make some drastic changes. I knew going to Golds gym and doing Bi’s and Tri’s was not going to cut it. So I showed up knowing it was going to hurt pretty badly…..and it did!

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness since starting CrossFit?

My bodyweight has stayed at a consistent healthy weight even though my diet goes all over the place throughout the year. My blood pressure used to be high, it is perfect every time I get it checked, and my overall well-being is better. I wake up every day more motivated, more energetic, and more confident than ever before.

What impact has CrossFit had on your life?

Crossfit has made fitness a lifestyle that I love and crave. I love the team atmosphere, the daily mental challenge, and diversity of each daily workout. I love an active lifestyle. That can become more difficult as we age, however I believe crossfit can give us the strength, flexibility, and over-all health to be as active as we want to be until we die.

What is your advice for people getting started or thinking about starting CrossFit?

The good thing about crossfit is that it can be whatever you want to make of it, and it can be for every type of person. It can be as competitive and difficult as you want to make it. Or it can be scaled and modified for someone just needing some light yet effective exercise.  It can be life changing for someone with health problems or obesity! So my advice is TRY IT!

What are your hobbies, interests, and other talents outside of CrossFit?

Outside of the gym I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids and anything outdoors – sometimes its four wheeling, hunting and fishing. Or even as simple as taking a walk with the family or playing with the kids in the park. I also enjoy playing golf when I can find the time.
